System Requirements
Microsoft Flight Simulator X with Service Pack 2 or
Acceleration Expansion Pack,
or the Lockheed Martin Prepar3D simulator.
Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP (32 or 64-bit version) operating system.
Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 (for FSX and P3Dv3.2 or earlier).
Microsoft .NET Framework Version 4.7.2 (for P3Dv3.3 onwards).
FSUIPC
(freeware version) required if you intend to run the sim at increased simulation
rates or use the CPFlight MCP737/EFIS device driver. FSUIPC is required on the
client PCs if you are using Live View.
90 MB hard disk space.
OpusFSI is supported by Opus Software Ltd on the following editions of Windows 10 – Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Education, and/or Windows 10 Enterprise. OpusFSI is supported on the in-market supported servicing branches of Windows 10 including - Current Branch.
Installation and Set Up
Ensure Microsoft .NET v2 (for FSX and P3Dv3.2 or earlier), Microsoft .NET
v4.7.2 (for P3Dv3.3 onwards), SimConnect and FSUIPC (if
required) are
installed on your server and optional client PCs.
Installing the Demo version of Opus
Click on the OpusFSI_v6 (or v5) Demo/Upgrade link in the Download Demo or Upgrade column opposite and download the OpusFSI_v6 (or v5).msi file, or use these links,
OpusFSI_v6 (for P3Dv4.5+) or OpusFSI_v5 (for FSX/P3D).
Double click on the downloaded msi file and follow the instructions to install the software into the standard OpusFSI_v6 (or v5) directory.
The Opus software must be installed using the msi installation file on your designated main sim server system (your primary sim 'flying' computer) and each of your optional client sim systems. You may install the software onto any drive provided its folder name is OpusFSI_v6 (or v5) with the exception that you must not install Opus in the Opus Software, simulator or Program Files folders, and don't install in more than one folder on your PC.
To install the software on your optional client systems, refer to The Opus Network section below.
The OpusMSFS demo software will display a popup error message stating that the software is unlicenced but it will run anyway.
Troubleshooting: Can't download OpusFSI (signature is invalid or corrupt). Can't run the msi in Windows
Purchasing Opus
Click on the OpusFSI_v6 (or v5) link in the Purchase or Reinstall column opposite and download the Opus_v6 (or v5)_Flight1_Purchase.exe file, or use these links,
OpusFSI_v6 (for P3Dv4.5+) or OpusFSI_v5 (for FSX/P3D)
You may get some warning messages from your virus checker at this point which is quite normal for this file type and as a result the installation window may be hidden behind your browser window. If you are having problems downloading then make sure your anti-virus software is disabled. In Win10 if you see the Windows Protection warning screen then click on the More info button to run the software. Next select Run Anyway.
If you have previously installed the Demo then uninstall it via Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, do not delete your OpusFSI_v6 (or v5) folder containing your camera and system configuration files.
You only need to unwrap the purchased 'exe' file on your designated server system. You will find the msi installation file in your 'unwrapped' c:\Opus Software folder.
N.B. You need to keep your Flight1 license and key files on drive C in the C:\Opus Software folder, but can move the msi file to another drive.
The client systems are unlicensed and do not require license or key files. Do NOT unwrap the purchased 'exe' file on your client systems, it is not required. Neither do you need to create, or copy, the c:\Opus Software folder onto your client systems. This folder contains the license and key files which are ONLY needed on the server system.
The Opus software must be installed using the Opus msi installation file on your designated main sim server system (your primary sim 'flying' computer) and each of your optional client sim systems.
Updating to the Latest Version
Release
In P3D with OpusFSI_v6 you can click on the OpusFSI Check for Updates option within the sim's Add-ons menu, otherwise use these links,
OpusFSI_v6 (for P3Dv4.5+) or OpusFSI_v5 (for FSX/P3D).
or click on the OpusFSI v6 (or v5) Demo/Upgrade link in the Download Demo or Upgrade column opposite and download the msi file. If you have a problem running the msi then right click on the file and select “Unblock".
To update the older OpusFSI_v4 click on the relevant Former Software Upgrades hyperlink (or click here), or for OpusFSX_v3 click on the hyperlink opposite (or click here).
Uninstall the old software before installing the update via Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, do not delete your OpusFSI_v6 (or v5) folder. Double click on the Opus msi file and follow the instructions to install the software update.
All your original configuration (DAT and CMD) and camera definition (CAM, LIM and CDF) files will remain intact in the OpusFSI_v6 (or v5) folder but it is a good idea to take a backup of your camera files anyway in case they get corrupted (this may happen when you revert to a previous version with a different CAM format).
To install the software on your optional client systems, refer to The Opus Network section below.
OpusFSI Beta
Click on the OpusFSI v6 (or v5) Beta hyperlink in the Beta Development column opposite and download the msi file.
The Opus Network
If you are going to set up a networked system you will need to install the simulator and scenery onto your client systems.
The Opus network is created by running the FSISERVER program on the main (host) Flight Simulator PC, and running the FSICLIENT program on each of the optional client PCs.
Installing the Opus Software on the Client PCs
If you wish you can copy the Opus msi installation file onto your optional client systems and double-click on the file to install the
software, but you must uninstall the old software first via Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. Double click on the
Opus msi file and follow the instructions to install the software.
Alternatively, you can simply create an OpusFSI_v6 (or
v5) folder on each of your client PCs and simply copy the files and sub-folders across from the server's
OpusFSI_v6 (or
v5) folder. You only need to copy the DLL and EXE files across from the main folder, along with all sub-folders (e.g. the Themes sub-folder). Take care not to corrupt your DAT,
CMD and camera files on the client PCs which contain your client's current configuration and operational data.
Each of your computers must be able to 'see' each other over the local area network. The
Opus software will make efficient use of any speed of network without you configuring anything else other than the IP addresses, but the faster the network the better.
You can monitor the connection status on the main form display of the
FSISERVER program, and each of the FSICLIENT programs. In each case, the Application Links will turn green when a connection is made. Note, the server will allocate two or three links for each
Live View client, one link for each of the possible Live View Position & Attitude, and
Live Weather connections.
To configure the system simply run the FSISERVER and FSICLIENT programs on their installed PCs (you don't need to run
the sim for this purpose). Click on the Configure button on the main dialog (form) display and configure the appropriate options.
For the FSISERVER program you must specify how many Live
View client computers you will be using. You can also enable and specify the required options for the supported device drivers. Click OK when done and the server program will prepare all necessary communication links.
Repeat the exercise for each FSICLIENT program. In this case you must specify the network identity (either the IP address or computer name) of the main server, that is, the PC running the
FSISERVER program. You can also specify other options to enable the various client features (e.g.
Live Camera control). Click OK when finished and the client will prepare all communication links and attempt to connect to the networked
FSISERVER program.
