Selection Of Installed OPUS Systems

South Staffordshire Water PLC

The system consists of three main sites located at Green Lane (Walsall), Hampton Loade and Seedy Mill, and numerous smaller sub-systems. Each of the three main sites consists of main and hot-standby Opus PC6-SQL SCADA Master stations with between six and eight local/remote graphic workstation users. The smaller sites each have a single Opus PC5-SQL SCADA Master station supporting one or two workstation users. Each of the installed systems support multiple outstation, data logger and PLC protocols and communicate over a wide variety of bearer circuits.

The main systems are configured to acquire data from 222 stations with 10,000 points at Green Lane, 128 stations and 9,500 points at Hampton Loade and 152 stations and 11,800 points at Seedy Mill.

The systems have been supported for over 20 years and are continually being expanded and enhanced by Opus Software Ltd and the engineers of South Staffordshire Water PLC.

The Telemetry/SCADA scheme has been upgraded with 70 Opus RTUs. These intelligent RTU systems are based on the very latest miniature embedded PC technology and are capable of operating as a combined RTU, data filter, data logger and HMI.

The Coal Authority

Sub-contracted by Integrated Water Services to supply Opus PC6-SQL SCADA system software to the Coal Authority. A single Master station is installed communicating with 25 Opus RTUs distributed within the UK.

Thames - Acton Scitter Project

Sub-contracted by Onsite to supply Opus PC2000 SCADA system software to Thames Water. A single Master station is installed communicating with ADFM velocity profile data loggers.

Thames - Tideway Project

Sub-contracted by Onsite to supply Opus PC2000 SCADA system software to Thames Water. A single Master station is installed communicating with up to 50 ADFM velocity profile data loggers.

BAA - Heathrow

Sub-contracted by Halcyon Solutions to supply Opus PC5-SQL SCADA system software for the Heathrow airport twin rivers diversion project. A single Master station is installed communicating with TCMP compatible data loggers.

Thames Water - London Ring Main Simulator System

Sub-contracted by Bechtel Ltd to supply a single Opus UV2 SCADA Master station (DEC MicroVAX 2000 based) package to be used as a man-machine interface on the Thames Water London Ring main simulator. The supplied software was enhanced to interface to the GINAS model developed by Leicester University.

Channel Tunnel - Construction Phase

Sub-contracted by ML Engineering Ltd (now Bombardier Transportation) to supply two Opus UV2 Master stations based on identical DEC VAXStation 3200 mini computer systems. Each Master station supported five Mellordata M2250 Tektronics operator workstations and a single management Advanced Graphic Workstation. Each system acquired in excess of 1 million readings per day by communicating with TEML40 and TEML85 remote units. The system was installed and commissioned by ML Engineering Ltd and was featured several times on television including a special preview on the Tomorrows World program.

Hatfield Tunnel

Sub-contracted by Halcyon Solutions to supply Opus PC2000 SCADA system software. A single Master station is installed communicating with TCMP compatible data loggers via cellular radio links.

Iver Treatment Works -Three Valleys Water

Sub-contracted by South Staffordshire Water PLC to supply Opus PC2000 SCADA system software with an integrated graphic workstation and support for a single external workstation. A single Master station was installed communicating with OMRON C Series PLCs.

EPSM

Sub-contracted by Multiform Services to supply Opus PC2000 SCADA system software. A single Master station is installed communicating with 25 TCMP compatible data loggers and supporting two Advanced Graphic Workstation users. Pager alarm dial out facilities were provided to accommodate 'out of hours' operation.

Broadcrown

Sub-contracted by South Staffordshire Water PLC to supply Opus PC2000 SCADA system software. Two Master stations were installed in a Master to Sub-Master configuration. The sub-system communicated with up to 25 PLCs and MMI units using the Modbus protocol. The main system was capable of acquiring data from up to 100 stations via multiple sub-master sites.

Testway Housing

Sub-contracted by Multiform Services to supply Opus PC2000 SCADA system software. A single Master station is installed communicating with up to 20 TCMP compatible data loggers. Pager alarm dial out facilities were provided to accommodate 'out of hours' operation.

Avon Highways Agency

Sub-contracted by Halcyon Solutions to supply Opus PC2000 SCADA system software. A single Master station is installed communicating with 15 TCMP compatible data loggers.
